The Columbus Zoo hours are as follows: Months If you plan to drive to the zoo, it is best to fire up your Google Map and follow the directions.ĭuring the peak season of April to September, Columbus Zoo opens at 9 am, and the rest of the year, it begins at 10 am.įrom June to August, the zoo closes at 7 pm to accommodate the summer holiday crowd, and the rest of the year, it closes early at 5 pm. Its address is 4850 West Powell Road, Powell, Ohio 43065. The zoo lies along the eastern banks of the O’Shaughnessy Reservoir on the Scioto River, at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Powell Road. Thanks to Zoombezi Bay for hosting my family for the day.Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is close to Powell in Liberty Township, Delaware County. And if you have a AAA membership, they also sell discount tickets. The next place I suggest is getting Kroger discount tickets for Zoombezi Bay (at customer service desk, only grocery in town to offer discount tickets). First- all Columbus Zoo members get discounted ticket prices, $22.99 for all members. Everyone always is asking me how to get a deal on tickets (of course). Everyone decided that we have to come back! Not only do we have the best zoo in the country- but the best waterpark too! Right in our “backyard”! So make it a staycation destination! (or if you are an “out-of-towner”, it’s certainly worth the tip!) We had such a blast at Zoombezi Bay! From the wave pool to the lazy river to the the slides and new Baboon Lagoon- Everyone in the fam found a favorite in the park. So check out the great “Cooler Cove” area to help you save! Bring your own lunch/dinner and take a break from the wet fun to enjoy it in the Zoo or at a picnic area nearby. While you cannot bring your own food into Zoombezi, you can bring it into the Zoo. In case you didn’t know, I’m thrifty… □ But buying meals at amusement parks is NOT a thrifty endeavour. But wow! It was worth the wait! I cannot even describe the experience- think roller coaster, fast, water, laughter and fun (especially when you experience it with your kiddo) I will admit, I was not excited about the long line (it was a beautiful Saturday after all and I think half the city was at the park). Everytime we go to the zoo, the blue and yellow funnel calls his name! So of course this was the first slide he wanted to ride. Since then, my Andrew has been dying to ride it. And a couple years ago Cyclone was added to all the great slides and attractions at the park. Well the waterpark has come a loooong way since then. We can each remember fun times Wyandot Lake (if you didn’t know, that’s what Zoombezi was called back in the day). This truly makes for a “Wet ‘n Wild” family excursion- so much fun all in one place! And if you haven’t seen the Heart of Africa yet- take a break from the water slides and head over to see the giraffes, lions and more. They were ecstatic!įirst of all I love that admission to Zoombezi Bay also includes admission to The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. I was so excited to tell my crew that Zoombezi Bay would be hosting our family for a visit this summer. But now that they are “grown” (Yep big enough to ride everything at 48 in) they have been begging us to go. When the twins were younger, we just weren’t ready to take that “plunge” (bad pun IK!). What a blessing to have THE best Zoo in the country right here in our “backyard”!īut in those 8 years, we have actually only gone to Zoombezi Bayonce. We live close enough that we can pop over for an hour or two. We have been Columbus Zoo and Aquarium members ever since we moved back to Cbus in 2006.
